Biography – Film & TV

John is currently developing the film project Behemoth, set in East Tennessee and written by Anthony Sims Jr.

He has recently been working with Lionhead Studios, with whom he was principal character designer and director on a radical game project Milo & Kate for the Xbox 360 kinect, directing motion capture shoots, animation and voice performances. He also directed the drama sequences for all 8 episodes of the interactive web based drama Signs of Life, an astrological thriller, with Endemol, for the BBC.

John’s short films include Electric Frank (view here) which appeared in 25 film festivals worldwide, winning several awards including a “young Leopard of tomorrow” at Locarno, First Communion Day (view here), which was the winner of the BBC Dennis Potter award for new writing & The Secret Songs of Butterfish, which won 3 awards including a Gold Plaque at the Chicago Film Festival.

John has worked extensively in Television, directing episodes of Eastenders and Casualty for BBC1, The Bill for ITV, the entire second series of Home farm Twins and episodes of Grange Hill for CBBC, among others. He was also instrumental in setting up the pilot for Ethiopia’s first ever soap series Mereb as Exec Producer and mentor.

John attended The Northern Film School, Leeds UK, The Polish National Film School, Lodz & Goldsmith’s College, London.
